If you haven’t heard of NSPM-7, an Executive Order from the Trump regime, here’s what you should know.
It boils down to those criticizing the government, which the First Amendment allows us to do, being branded as terrorists.
First of all, it’s an EO, not a law. As we have to keep reminding the regime, they don’t make laws. Congress does. It can’t create new laws or crimes, but it tries to do so. It echoes McCarthyism, the internment of the Japanese during WWII, and the Jim Crow South. It may be even worse.
Political Violence and Domestic Terrorism
There are two concepts in the memo: political violence and domestic terrorism.
The legal definition of domestic terrorism is acts of physical and lethal violence to intimidate people or coerce the government.
Where has this occurred in the opposition? It hasn’t, especially not in terms of Indivisible, because our foundation is in non-violent civil disobedience and mass noncompliance.
Who has committed domestic terrorism?
Well, tear-gassing peaceful protestors and areas near elementary schools may more accurately reflect this definition. Kidnapping and assaulting citizens who look or sound like immigrants is another example.
There have been hundreds or even thousands of documented cases of ICE and Border Patrol using force and violence without cause. We see the videos every day, as these masked thugs walk around with the arrogance that impunity applies to just following orders.
It’s Nonsense, But Dangerous Nonsense
The EO is nonsensical, lauding numbers like increased attacks on ICE that have no basis in real data. The reality is that more people have died in ICE custody, citizens are being detained and held without cause, and the majority of detainees have no criminal record.
The memo also alludes to Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization trying to destabilize the government. There is no such designation.
Antifa is an idea and philosophy. There’s no headquarters or leader. If you’re against fascism, you qualify as Antifa.
They are trying to treat what we do under the First Amendment as a pre-crime. We’re in the era of thought police, where dissent is a crime. So, anyone who posts a critique of the regime, attends a protest, or donates to a progressive cause is now a terrorist?
Every accusation they hurl is a confession. It’s not progressives who are operating like organized crime, it’s the regime. Right-wing zealots have funded the mess we see now – the Heritage Foundation and its Project 2025, which has been their blueprint to end democracy.
Enforcing Their War on Domestic Terror
The memo wants agencies to adopt a new law enforcement strategy to investigate ideology, not actual crimes. A political opinion could now be a national security threat.
AG Bondi has ordered the FBI to “compile a list of groups or entities engaging in acts that may constitute domestic terrorism.” Well, we’d direct them to the groups behind January 6th, but the regime pardoned them for committing domestic terrorism.
The extreme views they are going to prosecute? It’s basically anything that’s not MAGA. The EO’s language: “opposition to law and immigration enforcement; extreme views in favor of mass migration and open borders; adherence to radical gender ideology,” as well as “anti-Americanism,” “anti-capitalism,” and “anti-Christianity.”
It’s a declaration of war against citizens who refuse to fall in line and drink the Kool-Aid.
To find these alleged terrorists, there will be incentives like a tip line with a cash reward system. The DOJ will also prioritize grant funds for state and local governments to pursue them.
The FBI and DOJ will use any tool to hunt down those expressing anti-MAGA sentiment and to treat every protest as domestic terrorism.
The new war on terrorism is against hundreds of millions of people just like us. These same sentiments are parallel to the National Security Strategy (NSS), and Anthony Christian called the shift “a coordinated rewrite of what national defense even means in the current version of the U.S. They’re redefining foreign threats as domestic ones and domestic dissent as a foreign attack vector.”
Every single action the regime has taken since it began to occupy the government is to suppress and oppress, dehumanize the vulnerable, and play to the white supremacy still so deeply rooted in this country. And no surprise, this is straight out of Project 2025.
What Happens Next?
Until the government prosecutes people under this, there’s no recourse. However, remember EOs are not laws and cannot create new crimes. The ACLU offers this guidance:
States and local governments can act to protect their residents and the nonprofit and tax-exempt groups in their states: They can end or limit their participation in Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTFs) and other similar joint federal, state, and local law enforcement investigative and surveillance partnerships. They can prohibit or limit data-sharing with federal agencies through these partnerships. At a minimum, states and local governments must make agreements governing these partnerships with federal agencies public.
